Meditation/listening/sharing sessions and other activities are noted on our calendar.
Whether you are a first time meditator or a seasoned practitioner, all are welcome. Around 6 to 15 individuals usually attend our sits. We strive to ensure that the spaces we hold are safe and non-judgmental.
After our initial meditation, a topic is presented which is the starting point for discussion. We are a peer-led group and take turns facilitating (Link to facilitation webpage).
We find that sharing from personal experience brings richness. Our common experience supports depth in sharing. Many of us find support in the process of listening and sharing, as well as an enhanced ability to live in the present moment.
Online sits occur every week at 11am Pacific time via Zoom, no experience or registration required! If you are unfamiliar with how to use Zoom, use these instructions to get started. Our Zoom meetings are about 60 minutes long and consist of a 10 minute silent meditation, a short topic presentation, discussion, a 5 minute closing meditation, new attendee introductions, and announcements.
In-person sits occur at 11 AM Pacific time on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month in the social hall of Cal Anderson House, located at 400 Broadway Ave. in Seattle. Saturday sits are 2 hours long and include a half hour opening meditation, a brief pause for tea/socializing, topic presentation, a 45 minute to 1 hour discussion, a short closing meditation and announcements. Some folks in the group often have lunch after our in-person sits.
Hybrid meetings with on-line and in-person attendees are currently being evaluated. However, we have no immediate plans to implement hybrid meditations. Without appropriate technology, we feel hybrid sits would be unsatisfying for all involved.
Meditation retreats may be online or in-person. We hold one major in-person retreat annually, usually in late September/early October.
